Home again! Home again! Jiggity jig!

Well, we made through (barely) our flight home yesterday. As I have mentioned before, I am not the biggest fan of flying through the air in a piece of metal. (which is strange, because I always dream about flying - but never in an airplane...usually just me swimming through the air) So yesterday morning was crazy for me - because I knew I was going to fly. While packing everything I was a nervous wreck! I was nautious, shakey, and irritable. Sorry to Mike who took most of it. Hopefully he realized why. Thanks to Becky who kept eye on Elli while I was frantically running around.
So on New Years eve it snowed several inches, and yesterday it was still snowing a little, so I was nervous about that whole thing and flying. (I mentioned over and over again how I wished I could have taken some snow home with me - apparently God listened because we have 3 inches now! - not quite the 9 we left, but this will do) We get to the airport ontime (amazingly enough) and go through everything (almost) without getting stopped...they almost took away Elli's baby food. They didn't, thankfully. So I'm like "Okay, seriously? Let's get this overwith." Mike and I then had a quick bite of airport Chinese food with the largest pieces of carrots I've ever seen and Elli barely ate anything (here's your sign!). I call Candy and she says it's really windy and we will likely have a bumpy flight.....GREAT!
Finally, we board the plane, all things are going along as scheduled...so we thought. We got on the plane to wait...and wait....and wait.....for and HOUR! Luckily the poor girl who got stuck beside us was able to move to another seat. (Yes, we are "those" people) So I was planning on being on the airplane for an hour and a half TOTAL. I could control Elli for that long....and that's about as long as it lasted. She was starving, screaming, restless, exhausted - basically everything that you don't want a baby to be in an enclosed space with lots of other strangers around with nowhere for anyone to run away and hide. Nursing her wasn't helping, nothing was. So we sat there with a screaming, crying baby until she finally fell asleephalf on my lap, half hanging over the seat....whatever works.
We land! Poor Candy had to wait for over and hour for us in a McDonald's parking lot - reading the back of a paint can...that's as exciting as watching it dry, I'm sure. Next time (if there is a next time) I'll plant some gossip magazines or something. Anyways, we eat and after a nice (but too short) visit, we hit the road for home.
It's snowy about the whole way, but once we cross into WV (da da da daaaaa!), it is a white out. I couldn't see anything!!! There were no tracks on the interstate and the way we were going through the snow it looked like I was going through a warp zone with Captain Picard of the US Enterprise. "Number 1" aka Allie, was hypnotized by it - I did get her to cluck like a chicken with the snap of my fingers - that was pretty cool. I had a headache by the time I got home. We should have just stayed up north.
But I'm home, there's snow, there's barely any food (which is good if you knew how I was eating this past week), and my house is clean - thanks to Jackie! Who vaccumed and swept and cleaned my bathroom! Great house-sitter, huh?!

I'm glad you made it back safely, even if you did have a headache. I wish I could come back to a house which was vacuumed and had clean bathrooms. That would be a dream! :)
