My favorite jeans

So you know that spot in life where you hold onto your favorite pair of jeans because you love them and they always fit, and even though they are a little torn and bruised you know that there are days where you need to paint, do housework, or maybe you feel a little bloated and so you go to your ol' faithfuls and face they day knowing you are wearing your favorite jeans and it makes you happy - only to go to your closet, put them on and find your favorite pair of jeans suffocating your thighs and pinching your skin at the button and you don't move for fear that you might rip the seam out of your favorite pair of jeans?! What?!? I can't even fit into these?!?!
Yeah, I am so there. I am so depressed.

This is funny!

I'm going on a picnic and I'm going to take....

Yesterday, though it was stinkin' hot, it was a beautiful day. Mike had the day off, so we all went on a picnic! It was a lot of fun. It actually wasn't too hot in the shade, but once we got in the sun, we instantly began to sweat. Yuck. I don't mind sweating - as long as I am doing something to actually make me sweat, like running or chasing Elli or excersizing...ya know. But anyhow, we grabbed some KFC (what picnic is really a picnic if you don't have it?), a blanket, and enjoyed the afternoon. Elli and her drum stick:

We played a little soccer. Elli's still learning the concept of "sharing" as you can tell....

And when Mike was tired, he had Elli feeding him grapes...

I tried to rest and nap for 5 minutes....didn't happen:

Then we hiked through the woods a little...wishin' that I remembered a sling or something:

Good times!!

An email I found interesting...

I got this email today that I found interesting. It is from this website called GodTube - it's kindof like YouTube, but more God related. Anyways, Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church - a huge huge church out in California, recently had Barack Obama and John McCain out for some interviews. They were asked the same questions, and anyways - here's their video answers compaired side-by-side.... I hope it helps you think about your decision of who to vote for. I don't know where either of them stands because election jargon annoys me, so I found it easy and interesting....

"History was made when presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain made their first joint appearance of the 2008 campaign at the first ever televised forum led by one of our nation’s leading pastors, Dr. Rick Warren of Saddleback Church."

Why do you want to be president? Obama McCain
Does evil exist? Obama McCain
Define “marriage”. Obama McCain
What is your stance on abortion? Obama McCain
What is your stance on stem cell research? Obama McCain
What does being a Christian mean to you? Obama McCain
What do you think about religious persecution? Obama McCain
What is your stance on federal funding of faith-based organizations? Obama McCain
What do you consider your greatest moral failure to be? What is America’s? Obama McCain
Who are the three wisest people in your life? Obama McCain
Name one instance when you went against party loyalty. Obama McCain
Name one instance when you flip-flopped on an issue. Obama McCain
What is the most gut-wrenching decision you’ve ever had to make? Obama McCain
Which existing Supreme Court Judge would you not have nominated? Obama McCain
What is your stance on merit-based pay for teachers? Obama McCain
Define “rich”. Obama McCain
What cause is worth our troops dying for? Obama McCain
Would you consider creating an emergency plan for orphans? Obama McCain
What do you say to the people who oppose you answering these questions in a church? Obama McCain

This is from GodTube in case you decide to comment on their website:

Visiting the Butler's

This was a funny moment when Hank (June, mom's dog's brother - also deaf and bazaar) jumped around in the pond. Elli was just belly laughing and we couldn't help but laugh along. It was infectious! This was one of a few smiling moments that afternoon....never wake a sleeping baby.

She got to see a goat - which she now will say the sounds s goat makes. They were tossing it some grass. She also got to see chickens, a big cow, and big dogs. She loved it!

Here she is picking some more grass to feed the animals. She didn't want to stop!

Visiting Aunt Becky

This past weekend Mom, Elli, and I went up to Negley, OH to visit Becky and Travis. It was a nice visit. Elli had a great time - well, she did before her nap wasn't interrupted on Saturday. She was cranky. I was miserable. But really, it was a good trip. Elli loved all of the animals - especially the kittens. "Kitty!" she would say over and over again. She'd curl up her shoulders and pull her hands up to her face and try to lure them in with cuteness. She could have gotten any of us, but the cats...they were smart...well, most of the time. She did catch them now and then, and wouldn't let them have a moment of peace until she caught them again. Ya know, we didn't see them the last few hours we were there. Poor cats. At least she didn't carry them around their necks. She was (generally) very good at not choking them or squeezing them.

Here's Elli and Aunt Becky with the "sorsies"...or horses as we know them. She thought they were "big" and would scramble up Becky's waste and squeeze her neck until she got used to them. They are very friendly horses, so they were right there whenever we came around. It was pretty neat.
Ofcourse, I am blogging in reverse order of the weekend....darn it.

Curls!!!

Look at these curls! What am I going to do with them? She's pretty good about letting me comb her hair right now, but I doubt that will last. I use lots of de-tangling spray. Half the time her hair is just a frizzy mess because she likes to run and throw herself onto the couch and rub her head all over the pillows...curls everywhere!

Yumm-o

Look what I made! I don't remember what they are called, but it something that fancy so that it covers up how INCREDIBLY SIMPLE they are so make! I think that the top one, here looks like a sunflower. It is fresh, delicious peaches and yummy blackberries....awesome....

This one was my favorite though, because I added a ring of fresh blueberries to the outside. Oh, they were good...

Brief instructions - sorry no ingredient list, it's upstairs and, well, I'm lazy. I know it's a store bought pie crust, some flour and sugar....

add your fruit (in a pretty pattern ofcourse, because you want it to look like you slaved over it)

Fold up the crust to contain the juices while it cooks, sprinkle with sugar, stick it in the oven for not that long.... pretty good instructions, eh? Hey, I'm doing good to get pictures off my camera and actually write something here!!!!

speaking of look-a-likes

Don't I look like my mom here? I think so.... especially when she's mad, but trying not to smile...yeah....

Egg(plant) head

So, I got my hair colored this week. Yes, it's purple and yes, there is some pretty bright orange in there too! It was a little shocking at first, but I got used to it. When I styled my hair like I usually do, the purple really didn't show up that much. I am saying "didn't" because it has pretty much faded. It actually looks kindof gray right now. I actually miss the purple. I am kindof glad the orange has faded some...it was a little drastic, but looks good now. I am thinking of having my friend touch it up...what do you think? Am I just going throught a phase? I mean, I quit my job, considered getting a tattoo at the beach, colored my hair purple... I blame it on my car accident.
But don't my eyebrows look awesome?!

Finally Beach pictures!

Now, I have a LOT of beach pictures spread over a LOT of posts, so you'll probably at the bottom of the screen have to click on the "older posts" link too see all of them. I am uploading through Pisaca (LOVE it), and it only lets me do 4 pictures at a time, so that's why they are split. And they are all in the wrong order. So, if you want to see them cronologically, look at them from the first post on the other page.
Enjoy!
