Argh.... yesterday I went to the dentist to have him check out why my tooth was bugging me. He said that I had a cavity between two of my teeth that has gotten pretty big and that I should have it taken care of right away. So this morning I woke up in time to brush my teeth and pull my hair back and go. I woke up late because Elli shouted for us for "39 minutes" , Mike said this morning, and thus I couldn't roll myself out of bed in time to even get Elli's diaper changed before going to mom's house.
So there I was this morning in the dentist's chair, greasy, smelling like sleep sweat, and no make-up on. I felt so gross. I was embarassed and just hoping that I didn't have boogers hanging out in my nose for him to look at for an hour.
And it took over an hour. I sat there with my mouth open FOREVER. That is so hard for me! My jaw is so sore now! I am not convinced that he worked on the tooth that was bothering me either. I know he worked on the one beside of it and the one in the very back of my mouth, because he nearly stretched my cheek behind my ear to get to it. I was laying there thinking "Next time, I am bringing my camera...I wonder if they'll take pictures of this for my blog." I had lots of time to think. :) He drilled and drilled and drilled some more. I had the cavity and then some decay to work off...I don't get this. I floss and brush my teeth at least twice a day. I do what I am supposed to, and still I have to go and get my teeth drilled. Ugh...I hate it so much. He was laughing about how many things he was putting in my mouth at one point. I felt like I was getting braces again. I had something like 2 "pleasure picks"(he called them) - more like giant orange wedges, 2 metal slivers of some sort, 2 big things that looked like key rings that hooked onto my teeth and some giant metal stick that wrapped around my tooth an stuck out of my mouth...I think that would have been a GREAT picture. :)
It really wasn't that bad. I mean, I was numb. I couldn't feel the middle of the left half of my face. I couldn't breath through my left nostril....it didn't feel like it anyways. It's all good now. What cracks me up, though, is that I walked up to the counter, paid my co-pay, looked around the waiting room and no one told me that I had white goop all over my top lip. I think they did it on purpose! I couldn't feel it - so I didn't know!
Oh well, I hope that it is all better now. I still have to go back and he has to do the top right side of my mouth. I'm not going back until next year...not for a while....not until I can't stand it anymore!

Ugh! I agree with Becca...dentists stink! Luckily I haven't had any drilling done, but I believe I'm on a path to it. Hope you can feel your face now! :)
We all (except for Jasper, since he has no teeth) had our appointments a week ago and Roo did so great. The dentist was impressed, she just jumped into the seat and opened wide... her only complaint was that the light was too bright, so they gave her some sunglasses and she was fine. I was so proud! Of course Jasper fell prey to the psycho hygienist who wanted to make him use a pacifier even though he's never shown any interest in them. She kept snatching him and running away. Weirdo!
